Lalonde shuts out 67’s as Greyhounds win season series
The injured Ottawa 67’s couldn’t get their offence out of neutral on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 3-0 inside The Arena at TD Place.
In a relatively slow opening 20 minutes, the Greyhounds were the only ones to put a goal on the ledger. Owen Allard pulled a faceoff win back to the point and moved to the front of the net, where he deflected a Chase Reid shot past Collin MacKenzie for a power play marker.
The second period wasn’t much kinder to the Barber Poles, who conceded a goal in the opening five minutes. Brady T Smith pushed the Greyhounds’ lead to two, before with about 30 seconds left in the frame, Jordan Charron capitalized on a breakaway chance, sending the clubs to the locker room with a 3-0 scoreline.
The third period produced nothing in terms of offence, as Nolan Lalonde tightened his grip on a shutout, which he eventually secured in the 3-0 win.
