George wins goaltending duel over 67’s
Defence ruled the day in the Ottawa 67’s meeting with the Owen Sound Attack, but the Bears got the better of the Barber Poles, winning 3-1.
For the bulk of the opening frame, the Attack carried the pace of play, but Collin MacKenzie and the 67’s defence was stout, highlighted by a save-of-the-season candidate from the overage netminder to keep the score knotted at zero.
As time wound down in the frame, the Attack were finally able to break through, as Declan Waddick gave the home side the lead they would maintain into the locker room.
Just seconds into the second, Owen Sound pounced again. This time, James Petrovski scored his first goal of the season, giving his team a 2-0 advantage.
Needing a big period to secure a pair of points, the 67’s started the third on the right foot. After a scramble around the front of the net, the puck squirted out to Luca Pinelli, who made absolutely no mistake, firing a laser past Carter George, cutting the lead down to just one.
Owen Sound iced the game late in the third with an empty netter, skating away with a 3-1 win.
