GAME RECAP: Nelson, 67’s blank Generals
The Ottawa 67’s made light work of the Oshawa Generals as they stormed past them Wednesday night, picking up a 6-0 victory.
The 67’s would begin the game on the backfoot, with Oshawa getting a flurry of shots to start the game. Things would turn from bad to worse as the Barber Poles would get called for a penalty before they landed their first shot on net. That would come on the penalty kill from Frankie Marrelli, scoring and securing the lead. Ottawa continued to succeed thanks to their back-end as Kohyn Eshkawkogan would extend the lead to 2-0 heading into the second period.
In the second period, Ottawa would take control offensively, outshooting the Gens 16-8. However, the 67’s would benefit from some big points from down the lineup this period, including a goal from Brayden Krawczyk, and two assists from Teddy Spitznagel and Reid Hayes-–who made his home debut last night.
By the third, the Generals did push back, however it proved to be too late and ultimately not enough. Spencer Bowes would net a goal and assist on Jasper Kuhta’s goal to bring the game to 6-0, while Jaeden Nelson would stop all 15 shots in the third to finish a perfect 34 of 34—securing the win and his first shutout of the season.
