GAME RECAP: Fetterolf, 67’s blank Sting
The Ottawa 67’s pick up two points off a perfect game from Ryder Fetterolf, who shut out the Sarnia Sting over 28 shots to help Ottawa win 5-0.
The Barber Poles would come out of the gate strong, with Sam McCue picking up the first goal of the night in the opening minutes of his 200th career game. The 67’s would win possession back off the faceoff, and Frankie Marrelli would find the twine shortly thereafter to put Ottawa up 2-0. Later in the period, Thomas Vandenberg would add to the scoresheet off a slot shot, to give Ottawa the 3-0 lead after the first twenty minutes.
The second frame would be fairly evenly matched, with the Sting outshooting the 67’s 10-9. However, the 67’s would hold on, with Ryder Fetterolf, who shut the door completely on the Sting. Teddy Spitznagel, who had already orchestrated two of the 67’s goals so far, would find Zach Houben in the dying seconds of the period, and Houben would rip one home to bring the 67’s to 4-0 over the Sting entering the third.
Ottawa would continue their offensive onslaught into the third, outshooting Sarnia 16-11 in the final frame. Brock Chitaroni would add one last goal to push Ottawa’s lead to five goals. Fetterolf would make a massive cross-crease stop in the final few minutes of the game to keep his shutout alive and officially secure the 5-0 win.
