GAME RECAP: 67’s falter in road loss to Petes
After collecting three straight wins, the Ottawa 67’s fall 7-3 to the Peterborough Petes.
The 67’s would begin on the right side of the game in the first, outshooting the Petes 10 to 6 and being the only team to get on the board. The game would begin with a string of shots from the Petes. However, the 67’s would then shoot six straight, including a goal from overager Nic Sima to give the Barber Poles the lead.
The game would derail in the second period with both teams combining for six goals. Unluckily for Ottawa, five of those were from the Peterborough Petes. In particular, the 67’s really seemed to struggle with bouncing back after goals against this period, having conceded another goal shortly after an earlier goal twice. Thankfully, Filip Ekberg was able to slow the bleeding with a goal later in the period. However, Petes’ star Aiden Young would reopen the wound with a late goal to bring the game to 5-2 after 40.
Ottawa would take back lost ground in the third, outshooting Peterborough 14-11, but it proved to be far too late. Kieron Walton would secure his second goal and fourth point of the night on a power play marker. The 67’s would get just one more goal in the third from Brayden Krawczyk, to continue his point streak to three games. The Petes would yet again answer back to finish the game 7-3.
