GAME RECAP: 67’s close out against Colts
The 67’s wrap up their season series against the Barrie Colts on a high note, needing extra time to secure a 3-2 win over the Colts.
Fresh off his first career hat trick last weekend, Nic Whitehead picked up the first goal of the game for the Barber Poles. The 67’s would control the first period, outshooting the Colts 15-11.
In the second period, the 67’s penalty kill would get tested as they were on the man-down three times. However, the team would come up clean on all three instances. The Colts would tie up the game late, with a goal from Carter Lowe. Yet, the 67’s wouldn’t relent, with 2026 NHL draft-eligible Spencer Bowes picking up the go-ahead marker, which would be his first of two points in the game. The 67’s would continue to lead Barrie in shots this period, 16-13, but the Colts’ slow creep up in shots would only serve as a preview of what was to come in the third.
The third period would see the game swing the other way, with Barrie putting pressure on Ottawa. Parker von Richter would find the net early in the period to tie the game, and they’d use that marker to keep on top of Ottawa throughout the final frame of regulation. Ryder Fetterolf would stop 14 of the Colts’ 15 chances in the third to carry them into overtime, where Cooper Foster would sink the biscuit for the win.
