GAME RECAP: 67’s blank IceDogs
The Ottawa 67’s finish their final road trip undefeated, picking up a decisive shutout win over the Niagara IceDogs.
After a back-and-forth start to the game, Ottawa would waste no time in shaping the game into its own with a goal from Spencer Bowes. From then on, the 67’s would take control, with nine of the next ten shots coming off the blade of a 67—including another tally from Bowes to bring the team up 2-0. The 67’s would end the period doubling Niagara’s shot totals, leading 16-8.
While the second saw the IceDogs find a bit more luck offensively, outshooting the 67’s 12-10, it would ultimately be a statement period for Ottawa. Jasper Kuhta would snap a seven-game-long goal drought to hit 30 goals on the season in the first few minutes of the period. Nic Whitehead would follow shortly after, before scoring once again on the penalty kill for what would be his 60th point on the season—giving Ottawa a 5-0 lead heading into the third.
Ottawa would tighten up defensively in the third, limiting Niagara to just six shots in the final frame. Offensively, the 67’s picked up one final tally, a late goal off of a one-timer from Nic Sima to secure the 6-0 score.
2026 NHL draft prospect Ryder Fetterolf’s 26-shutout officially sets a 67’s franchise record for most shutouts, as well as ties an OHL record for most shutouts among rookie goalies with current Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. The win also secured the 67’s the four-game season sweep.
