GAME PREVIEW: 67’s look to bounce back against Rangers
OTTAWA, ON – Love won’t be the only thing in the air this Valentine’s Day as the Ottawa 67’s (38-11-1-2) look to grab two points against the Kitchener Rangers at TD Place (35-12-4-1) at 3:00 p.m on Saturday, presented by WM. Fans can also tune in to the game on Rogers TV Channel 22, via Flo Hockey, or listen to TSN 1200 for play-by-play from Kenny Walls.
The 67’s continue to be led by Cooper Foster with 52 points on the season. Spencer Bowes has taken to the New Year well, with 17 points over the 16 games since January 1st. The team has recently found offensive magic with Brayden Krawczyk, Teddy Spitznagel, and Reid Hayes, with Krawczyk and Spitznagel having points in their last three games and Hayes with three points in his last two.
The Rangers’ offense has been carried primarily by Jack Pridham and Christian Humphries, who lead the team with 70 points, as well as Dylan Edwards with 68. The team also boasts some notable NHL draft picks, including ex-Edmonton Oilers first-rounder Sam O’Rielly (Tampa Bay), Nashville Predators first-rounder Cameron Reid, and Ottawa Senators defensive prospect Matthew Andonovski–who has 10 points over 13 games since making the move back to junior.
Ottawa came away with the win in the team’s only other meeting this season. The Barber Poles relied on big games from Cooper Foster, who had two goals, and defensemen Ondrej Ruml and Kohyn Eshkawkogan, who both had two assists in the team’s 5-3 win in November. However, both teams have made plenty of additions since the last matchup, with the 67’s adding the likes of David Bedkowski, Sam McCue, Nic Sima, and Teddy Spitznage,l and Kitchener adding O’Reilly, Edwards, and Winnipeg Jets prospect Gabriel Chariot, to name a few.
Capital connections:
The Rangers roster features two players from eastern Ontario in Nashville Predators first round pick Cameron Reid (Aylmer) and Jack LaBrash (Brockville).
Additionally, the Rangers’ roster features Ottawa Senators prospects Matthew Andonovski and Luke Ellinas—the latter of whom has been out of action since November due to a shoulder injury.
Fans attending in person will have access to the Fan First Menu, featuring various snacks and treats for $3 to $5.
