The 67’s have had a fantastic start to the season, with three consecutive wins. They kicked off their season with a solid victory over the Kingston Frontenacs, followed by a strong performance against North Bay, and finally, an impressive 7–3 triumph over Sault Ste. Marie last Sunday. In contrast, Erie struggled at the beginning of the season, suffering three losses before finally securing their first win on Saturday night against the defending Memorial Cup champions, the London Knights. They added a second victory to their record this Thursday against the Peterborough Petes.
Ottawa’s rookies have played a crucial role in the team’s early success. Thomas Vandenberg, ranked 24th on TSN’s Craig Button’s 2026 NHL Draft List, has been a standout player, leading the team in both goals and points. Another impressive performance has come from Brock Chitaroni, the third overall pick in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, who scored his first OHL goal in his debut against the Kingston Frontenacs. Import forward Jasper Kuhta has also made a significant impact, tallying three points (2 goals, one assist) in his first three games with the 67’s. In addition, Ottawa’s goalies have excelled under the team’s structured play, benefiting from solid support and contributing to an impressive goals-against record.
The Otters have received significant contributions from two key players this season: Gabriel Frasca and Cal Hughes. Frasca is currently leading the team with six points and has scored in every game played so far. Meanwhile, Hughes found his rhythm last weekend by netting his first goal of the season in Kitchener, followed by scoring the opening goal in the Otters’ victory over London. On the defensive side, Michael D’Alessio has also made an impact, recording three assists.
