Fronts spoil 67’s School Day Game
Wednesday wasn’t a good day at school for the Ottawa 67’s.
At Canadian Tire Centre for their annual School Day Game, Ottawa wasn’t able to get anything going against the Kingston Frontenacs, falling 5-1.
The first period was controlled by Kingston, who outshot the 67’s 11-10, and earned a two-goal lead via markers just over three minutes apart. At the 8:14 mark, Jacob Battaglia made a slick cross-ice feed to Paul Ludwinski, who was all alone to the left of Max Donoso, and opened the scoring with a one-timer.
Ottawa appeared poised to strike back on the powerplay, but Nathan Poole converted on a shorthanded breakaway for the two-goal advantage.
The middle frame was another in which the 67’s had their chances, but things fell by the wayside late, and goals from Tyler Hopkins, Jacob Holmes, and Linus Hemström put Ottawa in a 5-0 hole.
Kaleb Lawrence broke Mason Vaccari’s shutout bid 5:34 into the third, but it was too late to mount any form of rally.
The 67’s are back at TD Place on Friday, hosting the Brantford Bulldogs at 7:00pm.
