Colts out-race Barber Poles
The Ottawa 67’s couldn’t cap off their celebration of Brain Kilrea’s 90th birthday with a win, as the Barrie Colts used a track meet of a second period to take a 5-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.
The first period came and went rather silently, with neither team able to muster a goal, but if you thought that would repeat in the second period, you’d have been wrong.
Newly-acquired Dalyn Wakely struck first for the Colts, before Cooper Foster scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season to give the Barber Poles a 2-1 lead. Not long after, another new face in Barrie tied the game, as former 67’s forward Brad Gardiner beat Collin MacKenzie with a nice shot.
Riley Patterson restored a one-goal lead for the Colts, but Kohyn Eshkawkogan reeled Ottawa back with his first career OHL goal. Somehow, the second-period scoring still wasn’t over, as Patterson added another, putting Barrie up with a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Zach Wigle tacked on an empty netter, and the Colts took their 5-3 win to the bank.
