Class in session for 67’s for annual school day game
It’s the annual school day game for the Ottawa 67’s (7-6-2-1), who host the Kingston Frontenacs (10-5-4-0) this morning at 10:30 at the Canadian Tire Centre. If you’re not one of the nearly 15,000 school kids in attendance, you can catch the game on Rogers 430 or CHLTV, and Kenny Walls’ call of the game can be heard on TSN 1200.
The Barber Poles enter Wednesday’s clash with points in each of their last five games, a streak which includes four wins. Their only loss during that stretch came a week ago Sunday, falling to these same Frontenacs. Last time out, the 67’s stunned the Brampton Steelheads 5-1, with Henry Mews picking up four points, and Luca Pinelli scoring twice in a three-point night.
Ottawa celebrated the return of Brady Stonehouse to the lineup on Friday night, and though he was held off the scoresheet, he was his typical self. Chase Yanni also returned, scoring once in his first game since October 27th.
The Fronts also come into Wednesday off the back of a big win over the Steelheads, after downing them 8-2 on Saturday. Kingston are winners of six of their past seven games, with the lone loss coming against the 67’s in their school day game a week ago.
On Saturday, Gage Heyes, Ethan Miedema, Tyler Hopkins, and Cedrick Guindon all scored at least three points, while former 67 Tuomas Uronen notched a pair.
For the 67’s, this is their third meeting with the Fronts in four games. They’ve met three times already this season, with the Barber Poles winning two of them. Two of those games have gone beyond regulation.
This is the third school day meeting at the Canadian Tire Centre between these two teams since returning from COVID-19. Kingston won last year’s game, but the 67’s took the victory in 2022.

Kohyn Eshkawkogan, defenceman, on playing at the Canadian Tire Centre: “It’s going to be cool. I hope to play in NHL rinks regularly eventually, so it’ll be a cool experience. It’s going to be pretty loud.”
Norm Milley, Assistant Coach, on the week ahead: “The theme is always one game at a time. The teams we’re playing these next three games are all really good, and they generate a lot of offence, so we have to be sharp in our details, and we have to play 60 minutes if we want to give ourselves a chance to win.”
