Bulldogs survive 67’s onslaught Friday
In a game where they likely deserved a better fate, the Ottawa 67’s were eluded by the Brantford Bulldogs by a final score of 2-1, Friday night at TD Place.
Despite outshooting the visiting Bulldogs 32-21, a pair of goals from Florian Xhekaj was enough to push the road side to a win, despite a solid performance from Max Donoso, and a goal by Cooper Foster.
Xhekaj opened the scoring 4:36 into the game, but less than three minutes later, Foster banged home a Brad Gardiner rebound to even the score.
Though Ottawa outshot Brantford 13-9 in the middle period, Xhekaj potted a rebound of his own at the 16:58 mark for his second of the night, giving the Bulldogs a lead they’d never lose.
The 67’s poured it on in the third, but a penalty call with their net empty to put them shorthanded with 1:16 to play, spelling an end to the comeback bid.
Ottawa will look to end their two-game skid at home tomorrow afternoon, when they take on the red-hot Mississauga Steelheads at 3:00pm.
