Barber Poles take show on the road to Oshawa
The Ottawa 67’s head on the road for the first time in the 2024-25 season, making the trip to Oshawa, where they’ll meet the defending Eastern Conference champion Generals at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday.
In their home opener on Friday night, the Barber Poles fell victim to the Niagara IceDogs’ explosive special teams, dropping the decision 3-2. All three Niagara goals came on second-period power plays, while the 67’s couldn’t convert on their four opportunities with the man advantage.
The Generals are already two games into their season, splitting wins and losses. They took down the Kingston Frontenacs to open the season on Friday night, but took a healthy loss in Brantford last night, falling to the Bulldogs 6-2. On Sunday, they’ll host their home opener, raising their Eastern Conference champions banner to the rafters.
In the eight regular-season meetings a year ago, the 67’s enjoyed a dominant 6-2 record, but the postseason brought a different picture. The Generals swept away Ottawa in the second round, earning the last laugh.
Fans looking to see all of the action can see it on Rogers channel 22 or on CHLTV. For those listening, they’ll find Kenny Walls’ call on 580 CFRA.

Keys to the game
- Discipline
Stay out of the box, but also, when the 67’s do take a penalty, they’ll need to do a better job killing them off
- Net front presence
Chaos in front of the net is generally a good thing for offence. If you take away the goaltender’s eyes, it’s hard to stop the puck.
- Stay calm
It’s Oshawa’s home opener, and the crowd will be into it. Don’t let the emotions of the night throw you off.
