Barber Poles make first trip to Barrie
The Ottawa 67’s (11-12-3-4) are on the road on Saturday evening, where they’ll be for the next nine games, beginning with a stop in Barrie to meet the Colts (20-8-1-0). Puck drop from Sadlon Arena is at 7:30 p.m.
You can see all of the action on Rogers TV and CHLTV, and Kenny Walls’ call can be heard on 580 CFRA.
The 67’s wrapped up their 2024 home schedule on Friday night, taking a thrilling overtime victory over the suddenly red-hot Peterborough Petes. Ottawa got goals from Henry Mews and Jack Dever in regulation, and the Petes countered with markers from Caden Taylor and Ryder McIntyre, but Will Gerrior played hero in overtime.
In the win, Mews moved into a tie for the team lead in points (37) with Luca Pinelli, who received news that he had been named to the Canadian World Junior roster.
The Colts have become known for close hockey games this season, with each of their past three games being decided by a single goal. Last night in Brantford, they fell 2-1 in overtime to the Bulldogs after rallying to tie the game late in the third period.
Like the Barber Poles, the Colts are without some of their top weapons, with Cole Beaudoin and Beau Akey being named to the Canadian roster.
Ottawa and Barrie have played some close games this season, but the Colts came away with both victories, winning 5-3 on October 20th, and 2-1 last Sunday.

Keys to the game
- Both short
Both clubs are without some key pieces, so being short-handed isn’t an excuse. It’s next-man-up for both teams.
- Don’t blink
The 67’s and Colts pride themselves on defence, and typically play low-scoring hockey. Ottawa needs to be mindful in their own end.
- Getaway
A nine-game road trip begins for Ottawa, but these are some of the best times of your life as a player. Enjoy it, have fun, and compete your hardest.
