Barber Poles close out weekend against Sting
The third, and final game of the weekend may be the biggest test for the Ottawa 67’s.
After they were stymied by the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday evening, the Barber Poles will attempt for the second time to win their 30th game of the campaign, hosting the high flying Sarnia Sting inside The Arena at TD Place. Puck drop is set for 2:00pm, and fans can watch live on Rogers TV, stream on CHL TV, or hear Kenny Walls call the action on TSN 1200.
Ottawa dug themselves an early hole, Friday, falling behind 3-0 to the Bulldogs in the first. The 67’s rallied, with goals from Frankie Marrelli, and Cooper Foster bringing the game to a 3-2 score, before a questionable Hamilton marker restored the two-goal late. Cam Tolnai scored late, but there would be no comeback, in this affair.
The 67’s weren’t the only team upset on Friday night, with Sarnia falling 5-3 in Kingston. They had a 3-2 lead near the midway point; thanks to Ethan Del Mastro, Zach Filak, and Ryan Mast, but the Fronts scored three unanswered to pull away from the road team.
It’s the first time that Ottawa and Sarnia have faced off since November 17, 2019: an occasion on which the 67’s won 6-3 on the road. Tolnai, and Jack Matier each recorded assists.
