Barber Poles claim two crucial points against Petes
The Ottawa 67’s secured a couple of really important points in the standings with a 3-0 win over the Peterborough Petes on Wednesday night, moving back into eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
The first period provided nothing in the way of offence, though it did offer an opportunity for Brady Stonehouse to reacquaint himself with his former teammates, which he did often throughout the night.
In the second period, the Barber Poles found a way to break through, getting on the board early in the frame courtesy of Frankie Marrelli’s fourth marker of the season. Six minutes later, Matthew Mayich followed it up with another, putting Ottawa out front by two goals.
In the third, Will Gerrior potted his 24th of the year on a bomb of a one-timer, rounding out a big win for the home side.
In the win, 67’s netminder Collin MacKenzie picked up his fourth career shutout, stopping all 29 shots turned his direction. He also claimed the game’s first star.
