World Junior Showcase 2019
The Sport Chek World Junior Showcase wrapped up on August 3rd in Plymouth, Michigan as Canada began their World Junior preparation. In an exciting four day mini-tournament Canada played games against U.S., Finland, and Sweden.
Ottawa 67’s Coach and OHL Coach of the Year, André Tourigny was in attendance as he is set to make his mark as an Assistant Coach for Team Canada at the 2020 World Junior Championships in Czech Republic. The entire organization is excited to see Coach behind the bench during the 2019-2020 holiday season.
D Kevin Bahl was on the ice at the Showcase where he continues his battle for a chance to represent Canada on the big stage in the new year.
Hlinka Gretzky Cup 2019
In other Hockey Canada news, 67’s Assistant Coach Mario Duhamel (pictured bottom row, third from right) was behind the bench this past week as an Assistant Coach for Team Canada during the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia. In the thrilling tournament that took place over five days and wrapped up on Saturday, talented U-18 players from all over the world battled it out for a chance to bring home some hardware for their countries. In the end Russia came out on top with Gold, Canada winning Silver and Sweden taking home Bronze.
