67’s swept away in home-and-home with Generals
The Oshawa Generals earned a sweep of the home-and-home series with the Ottawa 67’s on Friday night, taking a 5-2 victory on home ice.
The first period at the Tribute Communities Centre was a wild one, to put it lightly. The penalty boxes were full, and the action intense, but only one goal was put on the board as a result, and for the 67’s, it wasn’t good news.
After a close call at the blue line, Noah Powell found Owen Griffin all alone out front, and he made no mistake, breaking the deadlock with just over two minutes to play in the first.
The second brought no less craziness, beginning virtually right off the drop of the puck. Oshawa extended their lead to three with a pair of quick goals from Calum Ritchie, but the Barber Poles didn’t go down without a fight.
Only a few minutes later, Chris Barlas tipped home a Filip Ekberg point shot on the power play, and Nathan Amidovski scored on a breakaway to cut the lead down to just one.
Oshawa responded, however, with Lauri Sinivuori scoring on the man advantage to restore a two-goal lead for the Gennies.
Midway through the final regulation frame, Ritchie finished off his first career hat trick, going bar down from the middle of the circles to polish off a 5-2 win.
