67’s sign 2018 draft pick Yanic Crete
The Ottawa 67’s have announced on Friday that they have signed their 2018 OHL Priority Selection, 3rd round pick Yanic Crete. Crete was selected 51st overall back in April by the 67’s.
“I’m really proud of this accomplishment, I worked really hard for this, and I think that when you work hard enough, you can accomplish anything,” said Crete. “I trained hard all summer and the work paid off. I worked hard, I was in great shape and I felt ready.”
Crete, a 6-foot-1, 178-pound forward, spent all of last season with the Hawkesbury Hawks of the HEOMAAA. In 41 games, he was able to put up 20 goals and 29 assists for a total of 49 points.
“Yanic is an intelligent playmaking forward who sees the ice extremely well,” said 67’s Assistant General Manager Jan Egert. “We are happy that Yanic has chosen the 67s and we are excited to play a part in his development”.
Crete and the rest of his teammates will see plenty of ice time before the start of the regular season, with five pre-season contests on the schedule. They kick things off tonight in Sudbury.
