67’s play rare Wednesday night game against Oshawa
Sorry, 67’s fans, it’s not just the weekend just yet.
You feeling that way would be understandable though, as tonight is a rare Wednesday in which your Barber Poles are in action, inside The Arena at TD Place. In town for the contest are the Oshawa Generals, looking to get back on track, having lost six of their last seven. It’s a 7:00pm puck drop, and fans can watch live on Rogers TV, stream on CHL TV, or hear Kenny Walls on the radio call for TSN 1200.
Ottawa is coming off of a thrilling win over the North Bay Battalion, Sunday afternoon, in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game at Lansdowne. Luca Pinelli had a pair of goals, including the one that got the fur flying, and the second of two for Brady Stonehouse was the game-winner, in a 6-5 victory. Will Gerrior, and Kaleb Lawrence also hit the scoresheet, backed by a 31-save performance from the returning Collin MacKenzie.
One game after snapping a five-game losing streak, the Generals came crashing back to Earth on Sunday, falling 3-2 to the Storm in Guelph. Luca Marrelli, and Rasmus Kumpulainen were the goalscorers, in a 30-save effort for Jacob Oster, against his former team.
It’s already the fifth meeting of the year between these two East Division rivals, with the 67’s holding three wins over Oshawa, the latest of which came in overtime on November 25 in the nation’s capital. After Gerrior, and Cooper Foster stoked Ottawa out to an early 2-0 lead, a third-period goal from Connor Lockhart, and tying marker by Dylan Roobroeck with 23 seconds to play, sent the game to overtime. With less than three seconds on the clock before a shootout, Foster’s second of the game secured a 35-save win for Max Donoso.
