67’s meet Fronts in Kingston’s school day game
Rise and shine. The Ottawa 67’s (5-6-2-1) are in Kingston Wednesday morning, taking on the Frontenacs (8-4-4-0) in their annual school day game. Please note, puck drop from Slush Puppie Place is at 10:30 a.m. Fans can follow along with all of the action on Rogers TV and CHLTV, or hear Kenny Walls’ call on TSN 1200.
The Barber Poles go into the morning’s action riding a three-game point streak, and earning three of a possible four points over the weekend. On Friday night, they won an overtime thriller over the Guelph Storm, before coming up just a hair short in their comeback effort against these same Frontenacs on Sunday afternoon.
Still without Kohyn Eshkawkogan, who remains at the U17 World Challenge in Sarnia, the Barber Poles have gotten extra support elsewhere. Henry Mews currently has a three-game point streak, which includes two goals and six total points. Luca Pinelli has scored five goals in his past three games, also adding a pair of assists, and Chris Barlas has goals in two straight games.
Kingston now enjoys a four-game win streak, dating back to October 27th, when they took down the North Bay Battalion 6-2. In their three games in three days swing over the weekend, the beat the Peterborough Petes and Storm, before earning two more points in Ottawa on Sunday.
In the two games played against one another to date, both teams have been victorious once, but the loser walked away with a point in the bank, with each meeting ending in overtime.

Keys to the game
- Set the alarm
Starting on time is always important, but when the game starts so early, it can be tough. The 67’s have to make sure they are awake and ready to roll.
- Block the noise
School day games are loud, and those kids are ruthless. Block out the noise as much as you can, and just play your game.
- Believe
The Barber Poles proved to themselves they can come back from a few goals down over the weekend, now it’s about carrying that belief forward.
