67’s lose by a field goal to Bulldogs
It was a chippy one, to be sure, but the Ottawa 67’s early efforts weren’t enough to hold down the Brantford Bulldogs, who doubled them up by a score of 6-3 on Friday night.
For the second time this season, the Barber Poles struck first. It was a bit of an odd one, going way up into the air, somehow beating David Egorov after a nice play from Matthew Mayich. Not long after, the Bulldogs tied the game up, with Nick Lardis finding some time and space for his first goal of the game.
Before the end of the period, Caden Kelly tipped home a point shot from Mayich, restoring the lead.
Nearly midway through the second period, Mayich improved on his already impressive night, ripping a shot over Egorov’s shoulder, giving Ottawa a 3-1 lead. It was at this point, however, Ottawa’s fortunes flipped.
Before the end of the period, the lead evaporated. Calvin Crombie cut the lead back down to one, before Zakary Lavoie tied it, and Patrick Thomas gave Brantford their first lead of the night, with all three goals coming in a span of 10 minutes.
In the third, Lardis tapped in a chance at the side of the net to push the Bulldogs’ lead to 5-3.
Noah Roberts closed out the night by firing a shot the length of the ice, and into the net, sealing the deal on a 6-3 win for the Bulldogs, ending Ottawa’s win streak at three games.
