67’s kick off Round 2 in Oshawa
It’s on to Round 2 of the OHL Playoffs for the Ottawa 67’s, and it features a familiar opponent.
The 67’s take on their first-seeded East Division rival in the Oshawa Generals, beginning with Game 1 tonight from the Tribute Communities Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:35pm, and fans can watch live locally on Rogers TV, stream on CHL TV, or hear Kenny Walls call the action on TSN 1200.
Ottawa moves on after knocking off the third-placed Brantford Bulldogs in six games. Despite Brantford scoring first in all but the final game, Ottawa completed the “upset” largely powered by Luca Pinelli, and Samuel Mayer, both of whom scored four times in the series. Quietly leading the team is Jack Dever, whose eight have seen him hit the score sheet in every game of the postseason.
The eight-seed Barrie Colts gave the Generals all they could handle in Round 1, but the Generals rode a terrific goaltending performance by Jacob Oster. to a six-game series win. The local product pitched a .926 save percentage in the opening round, alongside prolific offensive performances by Oshawa’s “big three” of Calum Ritchie, Dylan Robroeck, and Beckett Sennecke.
Ottawa took the season series by winning six of eight matchups, but three of the games went to overtime.
