67’s kick off preseason in Kingston
The Ottawa 67’s begin their preseason schedule on Sunday afternoon, as they take on the Kingston Frontenacs at Slush Puppie Place. Puck drop is at 2 p.m., however, there is no telecast, or radio broadcast of the game.
For both clubs, it will be the first game on the exhibition schedule, which began on Friday, with a pair of games in Kitchener.
A season ago, the Barber Poles finished sixth in the OHL’s Eastern Conference, winning 36 games, before taking down the Brantford Bulldogs in the first round of the playoffs. They’ll add a handful of new names to the lineup, including first-round picks Nathan Amidovski, and Kohyn Eshkawkogan.
The Frontenacs concluded 2023-24 10 points behind Ottawa in the standings, and fell in five games to the North Bay Battalion in the postseason, but they head into the new season hoping for much different results. They added former 67 Tuomas Uronen via trade along with Ottawa native Cedrick Guindon, and return Ethan Miedema, Jacob Battaglia, and Matthew Soto, to name a few.
Fans can follow all of the action on the OHL’s website.
What they’re saying
Nathan Amidovski, forward, on adjusting to the OHL from minor hockey: “It’s a little of the same, just the speed and physicality [are up]. Bringing in the returning players makes things a little tougher, but I think we’re getting used to it pretty well.”
Chase Yanni, forward, on the opportunity ahead of him this season: “There are opportunities to step in and get some ice, maybe even get power play time. With my draft year, you want to have a really good year and get drafted, so there is pressure, but you can’t let it impact your game. I still want to go out there play my game, and not let the outside distractions distract me.”
Jordan Perrier, forward, on what he believes will allow him to find success this season: “The major thing is my speed. Obviously, the OHL is super fast, but I feel like coming in, I have that speed, and that’s a big benefit for sure.”
