67’s drop preseason opener to Frontenacs
The Ottawa 67’s kicked off their preseason schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 loss to the Kingston Frontenacs.
Kingston began the game on the front foot, with Luke McNamara banking one off of Collin MacKenzie and into the net to open the scoring. The Barber Poles answered right back, however, as Matthew Mayich beat Gavin Betts to level the score.
The deadlock didn’t last long, and the Fronts added a pair of goals before the buzzer, courtesy of Matthew Soto and Camden McCuaig to give the home side a 3-1 lead after one.
Ethan Miedema and Ben Pickell extended the lead to four early in the second, and moments later, Head Coach Dave Cameron swapped his goaltenders, sending Liam Conway into the crease for Ottawa a little over seven minutes into the frame. Conway stopped all 19 shots he faced.
The 67’s were unable to muster a comeback effort in the third, dropping the decision 5-1.
