67’s dismantle Sting at home
The Ottawa 67’s are back in the win column, following a 6-1 victory over the Sarnia Sting on Friday night inside The Arena at TD Place.
It was a relatively quiet first period for both sides. The 67’s thought they opened the scoring on a goal from Cooper Foster, but it was called back for being offside.
The second provided a little bit of a spark, beginning with Zach Houben putting in some serious work below the goal line to capitalize on a third chance opportunity, putting Ottawa up by one. Not long after, Henry Mews directed a shot toward goal, and it trickled through, where Will Gerrior tapped it home to extend Ottawa’s lead to two.
Ryan Brown cut the lead in half for Sarnia, but Luca Pinelli got it right back on the power play, beating the buzzer.
The Pinelli onslaught continued in the third, with the captain potting a pair more goals, moving him into the top 20 in 67’s franchise goal scoring, tying him with Andrew Cassels, Logan Couture, Dante Salituro, and Jamie McGinn for 19th place.
Kohyn Eshkawkogan gave Ottawa a five-goal cushion in the final seconds of the contest, sending the fans home happy with a 6-1 win.
