67’s at NHL Rookie Camps

Two Ottawa 67’s forwards are off to NHL rookie camps this week. 

Carolina Hurricanes seventh-round pick Filip Ekberg is in Carolina, while 2026 draft-eligible forward Zach Houben is skating with the San Jose Sharks.

Ekberg suited up for the 67’s during the 2024-25 season, recording 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points in 55 games. He also represented Sweden at the 2025 IIHF U18 World Championship, where he led the tournament in scoring and helped capture a silver medal. The Uppsala, Sweden native was selected 221st overall by the Hurricanes in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Houben, a Stratford, Ontario native, was Ottawa’s 102nd overall pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. He appeared in 51 games for the Barber Poles last season, finishing with three goals and one assist.
