Eastern Conference showdown in Niagara

OTTAWA, ON – The Barber Poles hit the road this week, kicking off their trip in Niagara for their first game of the season against the IceDogs. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. at the Meridian Centre. Fans can watch the game live on Flo Hockey or listen to Kenny Walls on TSN 1200.

 

Tonight, Ottawa aims to build on its promising start in November, highlighted by a decisive 3-0 win over the Oshawa Generals on November 2. Rookie goaltender Ryder Fetterolf, recently named OHL Rookie of the Week, recorded his second shutout of the season with a .960 save percentage in his last two outings. Offensively, during Sunday’s game, Cooper Foster scored the opening goal, while Nathan Amidovski and Shaan Kingwell added second-period goals to secure the win.

 

Niagara enters tonight’s game after a 6-2 loss to the North Bay Battalion on November 2. Despite this, the IceDogs have had a strong start to the season, currently leading the Central Division and ranked second in the Eastern Conference with a 10-5-1-0 record. Winnipeg Jets prospect Kevin He leads their offence with nine goals, 11 assists for a total of 20 points so far this season. Most recently, Niagara strengthened its defence with the signing of Blake Barnes, who has already contributed two assists in four games since joining the lineup.

 

Last season, the two teams split the season series 2-2. With Niagara and Ottawa sitting second and third in the Eastern Conference, respectively, tonight’s matchup should set the tone early in a season where both clubs expect important results.
