67’s blanked by Wolves at KRC
The Ottawa 67’s were unable to make it two preseason wins in a row, on Labour Day Monday, falling 5-0 to the Sudbury Wolves at the Kanata Recreation Complex.
Sudbury was powered by goals from four different scorers, and while the 67’s weren’t short on chances, Wolves netminder Joe Ranger stopped all 30 shots he faced.
Devin Mauro scored for Sudbury, just under four minutes into the contest. From there, Michael Derbidge added one of his own, with just four seconds remaining in the frame.
In the second period, Evan Konyen’s second of the preseason made it 3-0, before Quentin Musty’s powerplay marker gave the Wolves a four-goal lead.
Derbidge’s second of the night made it 5-0 early in the third, and that would be all for this one.
Game Notes:
- Luca Pinelli led the 67’s with six shots on goal.
- The Barber Poles made two changes from yesterday’s lineup, with Jack Beck and Ranvir Gill-Shane each seeing their first action of the preseason.
- The game featured two penalty shots, with Max Donoso stopping Derbidge, and Ranger making the save on Thomas Johnston.
Up Next: The 67’s are in Gatineau, Saturday, for a 6:00pm crossover matchup with the Olympiques.
