67’s kick off preseason home-and-home with Troops
The Ottawa 67’s got their exhibition schedule started on the right note, Sunday afternoon, and are looking to do it again, on the road against the North Bay Battalion, Wednesday night at 7:00pm ET.
Ottawa made a visit to the Kingston Frontenacs on the weekend, where the team’s newcomers shone in a 4-1 victory over their regional rivals. Thomas Uronen, Nic Whitehead, and Charlie Hilton all scored their first goals in the Barber Poles uniform, after Derek Smyth opened the scoring. Collin MacKenzie played the whole game between the pipes, making 35 saves.
This will be the first preseason action for North Bay, coming off of a season in which they won the Central Division with 48 victories, but again fell just short in the Eastern Conference Final, this time to the Peterborough Petes. While the roster has seen its fair share of turnover, experienced impact players return in the likes of Justin Ertel, Pasquale Zito, and Liam Arnsby, to name a few. Star goaltender Dom DiVincentiis is also back between the pipes for North Bay.
Whatever happens in tonight’s contest, these two teams will get another crack at each other in short order. The 67’s will play their only preseason game inside The Arena at TD Place, Saturday, with these same Battalion making a visit to the nation’s capital. Puck drop is slated for 3:00pm ET, in what will be the 67’s Hockey For All Game. Tickets are free, with fans encouraged to pay what they can via donation to the OSEG Foundation, benefitting youth in the Ottawa region.
