67’s Pull one over on Petes
Tyler Toffoli scored two goals and added two assists Saturday night and the Ottawa 67’s skated to their second win over Peterborough in a 24-hour span, beating the Petes 4-1.
Shane Prince and Ryan Martindale — the other two members of a trio that combined for four goals and 10 points Friday night at the Rona Centre, where the 67’s won 5-4 — each contributed a goal and an assist Saturday as the 67’s erased an early Petes’ advantage gained through a marker by Kanata native Ryan Spooner.
After that, it was all Ottawa (10-5-0), with Toffoli sealing the win with a short-handed goal into an empty net.
Petr Mrazek stopped 40 shots for the 67’s. Bryce O’Hagan made 27 saves for the Petes (4-9-1).
Ottawa’s next game is Monday morning, when it plays host to the Kingston Frontenacs for a rare 10:30 a.m. start in a school-day special.
