67’s At Full Power

Sept. 24, 2010 (Ottawa ON.): The Ottawa 67’s will be at full-power when they take to the ice for their regular season opener in Sault Ste. Marie this evening.  All players are back from NHL training camps and rookie Sean Monahan is off the injury list and ready to play.  

Wingers Tyler Toffoli, Dalton Smith and Thomas Nesbitt joined their teammates in the Soo this afternoon after arriving from NHL camps in Los Angeles, Columbus and New Jersey, respectively.  Ryan Martindale, Marc Zanetti and Petr Mrazek, the other 67’s who were taking part in NHL camps, made it back earlier in the week—just in time for the 11-hour bus trip north.  Monahan, who suffered a badly sprained wrist on the first day of training camp, has been skating with the team since the injury occurred but missed the team’s four pre-season games.  Tonight, he gets his first chance to showcase the shooting and passing skills that made him Ottawa’s first-round draft pick (16th overall) in the OHL draft last May.

Tonight’s game against the Greyhounds is a 7:30 start and it will be televised locally on Rogers TV (cable 22).  Radio coverage will be on CFRA-AM.  After the game, the 67’s will move-on to Sudbury for a game against the Wolves tomorrow evening, and then they’ll take the long bus ride home to get ready for next Friday’s home opener against the Oshawa Generals.  Tickets are still available for the home opener (7:30 PM) and for their game Sunday afternoon (2:00 PM) against the top-ranked junior team in the country, the Mississauga St. Mike’s Majors.
