67’s ANNOUNCE 09/10 SCHEDULE
The Ontario Hockey League released its 2009-2010 regular season schedule yesterday. The 67’s will open the campaign on the road with a trip up north to face the Soo Greyhounds and Sudbury Wolves. The home opener will see the Niagara Ice Dogs pay a visit to the Civic Centre on September 25th, as the 67’s look to avenge their first round play-off loss last season.
The month of October kicks into high gear with the defending OHL and Memorial Cup champion Windsor Spitfires making their only trip to Ottawa. The Spitfires will be lead by the front runner to be the first overall pick in 2010 NHL draft, Taylor Hall and Canadian World Junior team hero Ryan Ellis. The remaining four home dates see Ottawa facing Kingston, Mississauga, Saginaw & Brampton.
November starts off it’s first of 6 home dates with a unique twist as the 67’s host a rare Monday morning game. The Peterborough Petes will be in town to play the 67’s in a game that will be played in front of thousands of school children.
Absent last year from the home schedule because of the World Junior Championship, the 67’s will play their annual Christmas game on December 29th against division rival, the Belleville Bulls. With a total of 5 home matches, December also sees the defending Eastern Conference Champion, Brampton Battallion making a stop in Ottawa on December 11th.
January will be a busy month as we see the 67’s host 7 home games! The month will certainly be highlighted by games against each division rivals the Belleville Bulls on January 8th and the following afternoon against the Kingston Frontenacs in the only Saturday home game of the season. The 67’s will also host the London Knights on January 17th, which will most certainly be a popular draw at the Civic Centre.
Entering the home stretch of the season February brings 6 home games to the Civic Centre. The barber poles entertain the Guelph Storm, who will make their only trip to Ottawa and also former teammate, Michael Latta who plays for the Storm. The Erie Otters make their lone visit to the nation’s capital on February 19th .
In the final month of the regular season, the 67’s will host 3 games before hopefully embarking on an extended playoff run. The last regular season game is March 14th as the Sudbury Wolves make their annual appearance in Ottawa.
The 2009-2010 season promises to be one of the most exciting in recent memory as the 67’s will ice a veteran team and a new Head Coach in Chris Byrne. Don’t miss any of the action at the Civic Centre!
