Robidoux suspended 15 games
Boucherville, Tuesday October 2, 2018 – The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Éric Chouinard, suspended Mikael Robidoux of the Quebec Remparts for 15 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on September 29 against the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
Here is the rationale that led to the decision:
“In our analysis, the player at fault retreats to his zone at full speed and targets the opponent. Taking advantage of the fact that the Drummondville player is unsuspecting and in a vulnerable position, he violently hits him while propelling himself upwards without playing the puck.
Due to this and considering the player at fault has been suspended 7 times before in his QMJHL career, we decided to suspend him for a total of 15 games”, said Eric Chouinard.
The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
