Long-time friends Cataford and Gauthier excited to play together at 2025 World Juniors
A pair of long-time friends from the QMJHL are set to line-up alongside one another at the 2025 World Juniors.
Rimouski’s Mathieu Cataford (VGK) and Drummondville’s Ethan Gauthier (TB) – who have been friends since they were 10 – were both named to Canada’s roster for the 2025 tournament.
“Being here together is going to be awesome,” Gauthier said. “We’ve worked together to achieve our goal and we’re grateful to live this [dream] together.”
Canada will open its tournament on Boxing Day against Finland while they will also face-off against Latvia (Dec. 27), Germany (Dec. 29) and USA (Dec. 31) in the round-robin. All four games will be played at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.
The final is set for Jan. 5. The full schedule can be found here.
