2024-25 CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 22
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 22 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
Having extended their winning streak to 10 games, the longest active streak in the CHL, the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) are ranked first for a second week in a row. Thanks to their three road wins over the last seven days, Moncton also earned the Jean-Rougeau Trophy as the 2024-25 QMJHL Regular Season Champions. It marks just the second time the Wildcats have achieved this feat in franchise history, having previously done so in 2005-06. Right behind them at No. 2 stands the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), who recorded their second consecutive 50-win season and became the first club in the CHL to reach this mark in 2024-25. Rounding out the top three is the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL, who stand in third for a sixth straight week. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts have won eight of their last 10 (8-1-1-0) with their lone regulation loss coming at the hands of the No.1-ranked Wildcats.
Among the biggest changes to the rankings this week were the rise of two Western Hockey League (WHL) clubs, the Spokane Chiefs and the Medicine Hat Tigers. With 13 wins over their last 17 contests (13-2-1-1) dating back to January 31, the Chiefs are back up to their season-best ranking of fourth. Meanwhile, with 22 victories in 26 games (22-2-1-1) since the beginning of January, including six wins in a row, the Tigers have climbed up to fifth and they are making their first appearance in the Top 5 since October 15.
The next rankings will be released the week of March 17, following the 23rd week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 22
1. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): Having strung together 10 straight victories, the longest active streak in the CHL, the Moncton Wildcats (48-9-2-0) are back at No. 1 for a second week in a row. Over the last week, Moncton continued to impress as they scored a pair of wins against teams ranked in the Top 10 (3-2 @ Rimouski & 5-2 @ Blainville-Boisbriand) along with a decisive victory over the Sherbrooke Phoenix (4-1). The three road wins over the last seven days allowed Moncton to secure the Jean-Rougeau Trophy as the 2024-25 QMJHL Regular Season Champions – marking the second time they’ve achieved this feat in franchise history and for the first time since 2005-06. The Wildcats continue to allow a CHL-best 2.29 goals per game this season, and specifically over the last nine games, they have given two goals or fewer on eight occasions. During their three-game road trip last week, St. Louis Blues prospect Juraj Pekarcik (23G-68A in 50 GP) recorded a point in all three contests, amassing a team-high five points (3G-2A). Pekarcik now has a point in 10 of his last 12 games, as he leads Moncton with 18 points (5G-13A) since the beginning of February. Meanwhile, although his 10-game goal streak came to a close on Saturday, 20-year-old forward Markus Vidicek (36G-22A in 59 GP) recorded four points (2G-2A) during the road trip. Specifically, by lighting the lamp against Rimouski and Sherbrooke, Vidicek set a new franchise record by tallying a goal in 10 straight games, which is the longest streak of its kind in the QMJHL this season. This week, the Wildcats will look to become the second team to reach 50 wins in the CHL when they face the Eagles, the Sea Dogs, and the Titan over the next seven days. Moncton’s game against Cape Breton this Thursday at 7 p.m. AT will be available to fans for free live on CHL TV and the QMJHL’s YouTube channel as part of the QMJHL’s Thursday Night Showdown.
Games this week: @ Cape Breton (Mar. 13), vs. Saint John (Mar. 15), vs. Acadie-Bathurst (Mar. 16)
2. London Knights (OHL): Having strung together three victories during a memorable week, the London Knights (50-9-2-0) are back at No. 2 for a second consecutive week. Since November 12, the Knights have been the only club ranked among the top two teams in the CHL for 16 straight weeks. Over the last seven days, London has put together some impressive wins, besting No.9-ranked Brantford (5-0), Kingston (3-2), and Sarnia (9-0). The latter allowed the Knights to become the first club in the CHL to reach 50 wins in 2024-25. It also marked the first time in 20 years they have posted consecutive 50-win campaigns. In addition to this milestone, head coach Dale Hunter reached one of his own, as the long-time London Knights bench boss earned his 1000th career regular-season victory on Friday to become just the second coach in CHL history to achieve this feat. Helping both Hunter and the Knights reach their important milestones were Edmonton Oilers prospect Sam O’Reilly (26G-41A in 59 GP) and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan (27G-32A in 42 GP). Cowan led the team in scoring, having amassed eight points (3G-5A) over the last week. Currently on a six-game point streak, Cowan has registered five consecutive multi-point outings. Meanwhile, O’Reilly also has a point in six straight contests, which includes the 18-year-old scoring his second hat-trick of the season against Sarnia. In addition to the strong play of Cowan and O’Reilly, goaltender Austin Elliott (28-1-0-0 record, 2.15 GAA, .921 SV% & 3 SO in 29 GP) continued to do his thing. With 28 wins in 29 games played with the Knights this season, Elliott won both of his starts last week against Brantford and Kingston, registering a 1.00 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage, including a 28-save shutout against the Bulldogs. This week, London will hope to move closer to securing first place in the OHL’s Western Conference as they prepare to face the Storm, Spirit, and Spitfires during a busy four-game schedule.
3. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): Now up to 20 wins over their last 26 games (20-3-2-1) since New Year’s Eve, the Rimouski Océanic (42-13-2-2) are back at No. 3 for the sixth straight week. Over the last seven days, Rimouski suffered just their third regulation loss in roughly the last 10 weeks, this time only falling short to the No.1-ranked Moncton Wildcats (3-2). Otherwise, the 2025 Memorial Cup hosts responded to that defeat by earning a 5-1 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders and clinching the QMJHL’s East Division. Leading the charge for the Océanic during their two home games were none other than QMJHL-leading scorer Jonathan Fauchon (43G-51A in 59 GP), Washington Capitals prospect Eriks Mateiko (23G-14A in 44 GP), and Vegas Golden Knights prospect Mathieu Cataford (18G-40A in 50 GP) each tallied three points. For Cataford and Mateiko, the offensive outburst was a welcome sight as both players had relatively quiet months in February (Mateiko finished with 7 PTS in 10 GP, while Cataford had 6 PTS in 10 GP). Specifically, after kicking starting March with a two-point night (2A), Cataford potted a hat-trick against the Islanders, while Mateiko assisted two of Cataford’s goals on Sunday and found twine in the Océanic loss against the Wildcats. Rimouski is no doubt going to need Mateiko and Cataford at their best as they aim to make a deep run in the playoffs and hope to reach the QMJHL finals for the first time in 10 years. This week, the Océanic will welcome the Phoenix to the Colisée Financière Sun Life, before travelling to Gatineau and Shawinigan to face the Olympiques and Cataractes over the weekend.
Games this week: vs. Sherbrooke (Mar. 12), @ Gatineau (Mar. 15), @ Shawinigan (Mar. 16)
4. Spokane Chiefs (WHL): With a pair of victories over the Royals in Victoria (9-2 & 2-1 SO), the Spokane Chiefs (43-18-1-1) are one of just a pair of clubs in this week’s rankings to have moved up. Specifically, Spokane climbed up a spot to No. 4, matching their season-best ranking of the 2024-25 campaign. With their two victories, the Chiefs are now 13-2-1-1 over their last 17 games since January 31. That stretch has allowed Spokane to reach a WHL-best 43 wins, as the club stands just six points shy of the Everett Silvertips for first place in the WHL’s Western Conference with five games to go. Over the weekend, Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall (44G-77A in 52 GP) made some history for himself. Thanks to a five-point outing in Friday’s 9-2 Chiefs’ victory over the Royals, Cristall became just the third CHL skater (and the first from the WHL) to record 400 career points in the 21st century. As the week begins, the 20-year-old from Burnaby, B.C., leads the WHL in scoring with 121 points (44G-77A) this season – 11 points ahead of the next closest WHL skater, Medicine Hat Tigers forward Gavin McKenna (110 points). Cristall’s 121 points also place him second in the CHL in scoring, as he trails only Saginaw Spirit forward Michael Misa (124 points) by three points. If Cristall were to catch Misa before the end of the 2024-25 campaign and win the CHL Top Scorer Award, he would become the first Chiefs player to ever achieve that feat. This week will be a critical one for Spokane, as they get prepared to face the No. 6-ranked Everett Silvertips twice over the next seven days – providing them with a golden opportunity to try and put a dent in the six-point lead currently held by their U.S. Division rivals. Fans can catch one of these all-important showdowns between the Chiefs and Silvertips live at 7:05 p.m. PT for free tomorrow on the WHL’s YouTube channel and WHL Live on CHL TV as part of the WHL’s Wednesday Night in The Dub program.
5. Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL): Picking up a pair of wins against Kelowna (5-2) and Red Deer (7-1), extending their current winning streak to six games, the Medicine Hat Tigers (43-17-3-1) are up to fifth this week and back in the top five for the first time since October 15. Over the last two months, Medicine Hat has collected 22 wins in 26 games (22-2-1-1) dating back to January 4. Grabbing these important points has allowed Medicine Hat to maintain a two-point lead over the No.8-ranked Hitmen in the WHL’s Central Division – although Calgary has two games in hand to try and catch them. Having finished serving a three-game suspension last week, 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna (33G-77A in 52 GP) returned for the Tigers’ matchup against the Rebels. He recorded four points (1G-3A) on Friday to extend his point streak to 36 games – making it the longest in the WHL since 1996 and the third-longest in the CHL over the last 25 years (one shy of Sidney Crosby’s 37-game point streak in 2004-05). Meanwhile, Minnesota Wild prospect Ryder Ritchie (28G-31A in 49 GP) continued his strong play, tallying a career-high five points (3G-2A) including his first career WHL hat-trick against the Rebels. Ritchie now has points in 13 of his last 15 outings. Additionally, 2026 NHL Draft prospect Liam Ruck (22G-13A in 57 GP) had himself a week. Named the WHL Rookie of the Week on Monday, the 17-year-old chipped in three goals in two games to help the Tigers extend their win streak. With 22 goals on the season, Ruck ranks second among WHL rookies in terms of goal-scoring in 2024-25. This week, as the Tigers hope to keep the Hitmen at bay, they’ll face off against the Hurricanes and Rebels in the hopes of coming away with another four points.
6. Everett Silvertips (WHL): With two losses in three games last week (1-1-0-1), the Everett Silvertips are down a couple of places in this week’s rankings – sitting sixth. Over the last seven days, Everett scored a 6-5 victory over the Tri-City Americans before they suffered defeats against the Prince George Cougars (4-3) and the Portland Winterhawks (3-2 SO). As they have lost a little bit of wind in their sails, the lead they had built up in the WHL’s overall standings is now down to four points going into this week. They also hold a six-point edge ahead of their U.S. Division rivals, the No.4-ranked Spokane Chiefs, who have been inching closer over recent weeks. As they prepare for these last couple of weeks, the Silvertips may be without 2026 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear (40G-42A in 56 GP), who suffered a laceration to his leg on Sunday which could impact his availability long-term as the Silvertips aim to make a deep playoff run. The sting of losing Bear might somewhat be mitigated by the arrival of Nashville Predators prospect Austin Roest (1G-1A in 2 GP) who made his return official last week by suiting up in his first two games of the 2024-25 season. Roest had been rehabbing from an injury that he sustained in September and his presence in the lineup no doubt provides a much-needed boost to the Silvertips with the season winding down. Meanwhile, 2027 NHL Draft prospect and 15-year-old defenceman Landon DuPont (15G-42A in 59 GP) tallied a point in two of Everett’s three contests last week, as he continues to lead all WHL rookies in scoring with 56 points this season. This week, Everett will prepare for arguably the most important games of its 2024-25 campaign as they get set to travel twice to Spokane to face the No.4-ranked Chiefs. Fans can catch one of these all-important showdowns between the Chiefs and Silvertips live at 7:05 p.m. PT for free tomorrow on the WHL’s YouTube channel and WHL Live on CHL TV as part of the WHL’s Wednesday Night in The Dub program.
7. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): Having gone a perfect 2-0-0-0 last week, thanks to victories over Windsor (7-4) and Guelph (4-3), the Kitchener Rangers (44-13-4-2) continue to sit seventh in the CHL Top-10 Rankings. With points in seven straight games (6-0-0-1), the Rangers haven’t suffered a regulation loss in over three weeks. Their continued success has helped them hold a .746 points percentage in 2024-25, which ranks tied for third in the CHL alongside the No. 3-ranked Rimouski Océanic. During their two contests last week, 20-year-old forward Adrian Misaljevic (30G-33A in 63 GP) led the way, collecting a team-high five points (3G-2A). Having lit the lamp three times during those two games, Misaljevic broke the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his OHL career. The 20-year-old has already reached a new career-high in terms of scoring, as he is now up to 63 points in 63 games this season. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Jackson Parsons (35-11-3-0 record, 2.29 GAA, .920 SV% & 4 SO in 49 GP) continued to hum along as he made 39 saves in his lone start of the week against Windsor. Parsons now has five straight wins as his last defeat came nearly a month ago on Valentine’s Day against the Frontenacs. The 20-year-old from Embrun, Ont., has a CHL-best 35 wins to his name this season, while his 2.29 goals-against average and .920 SV% both rank second in the OHL. This week, Parsons and the Rangers will look to extend their seven-game point streak when they face the Battalion and Attack over the weekend.
8. Calgary Hitmen (WHL): Having registered a point in nine straight games (8-0-0-1), the Calgary Hitmen (41-15-3-3) are humming along as they find themselves ranked eighth for the third week in a row. Since January 19, the Hitmen have won 17 of 21 games (17-3-0-1) as they continue to keep pace with the No.5-ranked Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL’s Central Division and Eastern Conference. Specifically, Calgary is just two points shy of Medicine Hat and they hold a pair of games in hand at a crucial time in the season. During their pair of victories over Swift Current (6-2) and Brandon (4-1), Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Tanner Howe (17G-24A in 41 GP) led the way with a team-high four points (1G-3A). Howe now has registered three straight multi-point games, along with five such outings over his last seven contests. Additionally, veteran goaltender Daniel Hauser (25-12-2-1 record, 2.56 GAA, .913 SV%, & 5 SO in 42 GP) continued to do his thing. Although his shutout streak came to a close, Hauser won both of his starts last week – extending his winning streak to seven consecutive starts. The latter included a stellar 31-save performance against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Sunday. Hauser has now won 17 of his 20 appearances with the Hitmen, having posted a 1.81 goals-against average and a .929 SV% since being acquired by his new club at the beginning of January. This week, Calgary will look to catch the Tigers in the WHL’s Central Division and Eastern Conference when they face the Oil Kings and Hurricanes over a set of three games during the next seven days.
9. Brantford Bulldogs (OHL): With two wins in three outings last week, earning important road victories in Flint (4-2) and Saginaw (11-3), the Brantford Bulldogs (40-18-5-0) are back at No.9 in this week’s rankings. The Bulldogs’ lone loss over the last seven days came at the hands of the No.2-ranked London Knights, who shut them out 5-0. It marked just the third time that Brantford has lost in regulation over its last 26 games (22-3-1-0) dating back to January 5. By nabbing an all-important four points in their two road contests against the Firebirds and Spirit, the Bulldogs continue to hold a slim lead (three points) in the OHL’s Eastern Conference. During their two victories over the weekend, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Nick Lardis (70G-43A in 61 GP) hit a major milestone by potting two goals in each of those contests. Specifically, the 19-year-old from Oakville, Ont., reached 70 goals on the season, making him just the eighth skater in the CHL to have achieved this feat over the last 25 years. Lardis is also one of just three OHL players over the last 35 years to break the 70-goal plateau along with Oshawa Generals alumni John Tavares (72G in 2006-07) and Eric Lindros (71G in 1990-91). Meanwhile, speaking of Chicago Blackhawks prospects, Marek Vanacker (20G-17A in 40 GP) had himself a weekend as he led the team with six points (2G-4A). The latter included a career-high five-point night for the 18-year-old from Delhi, Ont., who collected a goal and four assists against the defending Memorial Cup champions on Saturday night. This week, the Bulldogs will look to secure another all-important four points when they travel north to face the Battalion and the Wolves.
10. Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL): Although they suffered their first regulation loss since January 25 this past week, coming against the No.1-ranked Moncton Wildcats (5-2), the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (34-18-5-2) won their other two contests to maintain their position in tenth place. Over the last seven days, the Armada defeated the Charlottetown Islanders (4-3 OT) and earned an all-important victory against the Drummondville Voltigeurs (7-2). Blainville-Boisbriand now comes into this week sitting just five points back of Drummondville for first place in the QMJHL’s Western Conference, holding a game in hand. Over their last 16 games, the Armada had been one of the QMJHL’s hottest teams, having earned a point in 15 of those contests (10-1-3-2 during that stretch). 2025 NHL Draft prospect Justin Carbonneau (46G-41A in 58 GP) put together a monster of a week, leading all QMJHL with seven goals and nine points over the last seven days. Thanks to the latter, Carbonneau was named the QMJHL’s Videotron Player of the Week. He now also sits four goals shy of 50 goals and ranks second among goal scorers in the QMJHL in 2024-25. If were to reach 50, Carbonneau would be just the fourth first-year draft-eligible skater in the QMJHL to hit that mark since 2000 (the others are Justin Poirier, Anthony Mantha & Sidney Crosby). This week, Carbonneau will look to get closer to 50 while the Armada will aim to do the same with the Voltigeurs when they host the Olympiques, Huskies, and Foreurs over the next seven days.
Games this week: vs. Gatineau (Mar. 12), vs. Rouyn-Noranda (Mar. 15), vs. Val-d’Or (Mar. 16)
