Three former QMJHL officials selected to work the 2008 Stanley Cup Final
KITCHENER, Friday, May 23, 2008 Three former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League officials have been selected by the National Hockey League to work the 2008 Stanley Cup Final; one referee and two linesmen.
Marc Joanette (referee): Born in 1968, he made his NHL debut in 1999. The following year, he worked his first playoffs. He has made 470 regular season and 28 playoff starts. Marc is making his Stanley Cup Final debut this year. Among his recent exploits, he was a part of the refereeing crew at the 2004 World Cup. He made calls in the QMJHL for eleven seasons before graduating to the NHL: three as a linesman (1987-90) and eight as a referee (1991-98).
Jean Morin (linesman): Born in 1968, he made his first NHL start during the 1991-92 season and worked his first playoff game in 1994. He has 973 regular season and 119 playoff games under his belt. He is making his fifth appearance in the prestigious Stanley Cup Final. He displayed his talents in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for four seasons (1987-91).
Pierre Racicot (juge de lignes): Born in 1967, he worked his first NHL game in 1993. Four years later, he would take part in his first playoff game. During his career, Pierre Racicot has worked 893 regular season and 69 playoff games. He was selected to partake in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. It is his second trip to the Stanley Cup Final. He perfected his craft in the QMJHL for four seasons (1988-92) before graduation to the pro level.
