MAINEiacs acquire first overall pick; Juniors trade for Louis Leblanc
DRUMMONDVILLE, Saturday, June 5, 2010 – After acquiring the services of all-star netminder Olivier Roy from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles yesterday, the Lewiston MAINEiacs made another blockbuster trade at the very beginning of the QMJHL Entry Draft, prying away the first overall selection from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in order to select defenseman Dillon Fournier of the Lac St-Louis Lions.
The Halifax Mooseheads then selected forward Luca Ciampini with the second overall selection while the Chicoutimi Saguenéens picked defenseman Dominic Poulin third.
François Tremblay was the first goaltender selected. Val-d'Or chose him with the fourth overall pick.
Olivier Roy was traded a second time in less than twenty-four hours as the MAINEiacs sent him to the Titan for a high number of draft picks.
Just before the end of the draft, the Montreal Juniors acquired Louis Leblanc (91-10-26) and a third round pick in 2011 from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens for Guillaume Asselin (92-09-09) and a first round pick in 2011.
