Our 20’s – Baie-Comeau Drakkar
Throughout the summer, the QMJHL will summarize the journey of its 20-year-old players. Today, those of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar: Matyas Melovsky, Jules Boilard and Anthony Lavoie.
Matyas Melovsky, centre
In his third season with the Drakkar, Melovsky posted career highs in points (83), assists (57) and goals (26), finishing seventh in QMJHL scoring. The Czech also had a +40 differential and won 59.1% of his faceoffs (7th), en route to the Guy-Carbonneau Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward. Melovsky finished his junior career with 201 points (50-151) in 169 games; this total ranks him 13th in Drakkar history. Drafted 171st overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2024, he is expected to play for the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League next season.
Jules Boilard, right wing
A fourth-round pick of the Océanic in 2020, Boilard played in the BCHL before joining the Drakkar in 2023-2024. He leaves Baie-Comeau and the QMJHL with a total of 86 points (34-52) in 118 games, in two seasons. He also added 11 points in 28 playoff games, helping the Drakkar reach the final in 2024. Boilard, a very good student, will continue his career with the University of Moncton next year.
Anthony Lavoie, defenceman
Lavoie left his mark on Baie-Comeau far beyond his brilliance on the ice, being named a finalist for the Humanitarian Player of the Year Award in the QMJHL twice. This season, he was also the Drakkar’s representative for the Marcel-Robert Trophy, awarded to the student-athlete of the year. A second-round pick of the Drakkar in 2020 (25th), Lavoie spent five seasons in Baie-Comeau, finishing his junior career with 89 points (20-69) in 284 games. Only five players have suited up for the Drakkar more often than him, while his 89 points rank him 10th among defensemen. In 2024-2025, the captain tallied 29 points (7-22) in 63 games, with a +38 differential.
