Olivier Gouin will referee at the IIHF’s World Championship
The IIHF announced the officials participating in the 2017 World Championship that will be held from the 5th to 21st of May 2017 in Cologne Germany and Paris, France.
Of the 32 officials, 16 will act as referees and 16 as linesmen. From this lot, Olivier Gouin of the QMJHL was selected to participate in this prestigious event that will regroup 16 countries with many NHL players participating.
For Olivier Gouin, this will be a third selection by the IIHF for the 2016-17 season, with previous participations at the U20 World Championship Division 1 – Groupe 1 in Bremerhaven Germany in December 2016 and the Continental Cup in Ritten Italy last January.
In this, his 4th season with the QMJHL, Olivier Gouin has participated in 146 regular season games and 29 playoffs, with two stints at the MasterCard Memorial Cup in Quebec (2015) and Red Deer (2016), including the final game.
Finally, during the last three seasons, he’s been working on a regular basis in the semi-professional AHL and ECHL leagues.
