2024-25 CHL Top-10 Rankings: Week 4
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 4 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
With seven wins over their last 10 games, the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) remained in the top spot for a second week in a row. Riding the longest winning streak in the CHL this season at seven straight victories, the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL climbed up to second place, while the Brampton Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) slipped down a spot for a second straight week, this time to No. 3.
Among some of this week’s biggest risers were the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the QMJHL and the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, who came in at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively this week. The Voltigeurs are one of only two nine-win teams in the CHL so far during the 2024-25 campaign, while the Spitfires continue to hold the best point percentage of any club in the CHL at .850.
The next rankings will be released the week of October 28, following the fifth week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.

CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 4
- Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): Although they suffered a loss to the surging Cape Breton Eagles (5-3), the Moncton Wildcats (8-2-1-0) scored a pair of victories over the last seven days to help maintain their place atop the rankings for a second week in a row. The Wildcats are one of only two teams in the QMJHL with two regulation losses or fewer. They have scored four goals or more in six of their last seven contests, earning wins in all six of those games. Over the last week, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers (3G-7A in 7 GP) enjoyed his breakout game of the year so far, registering a career-high five points (2G-3A) last Thursday in an 8-5 victory for Moncton over Saint John. The following night, Desnoyers recorded another multi-point game by tallying a pair of assists in the Wildcats’ big 7-1 victory over the Saguenéens. Meanwhile, Yoan Loshing (8G-7A in 10 GP) continued his fine form to start the 2024-25 season, as the 20-year-old also registered consecutive multi-point outings against Saint John (3G-1A) and Chicoutimi (2G-1A) last week. Loshing now has four multi-point games over his last five appearances, including what was his second hat-trick of the season. This week, Moncton will be tested when they face the No. 5-ranked Voltigeurs in Drummondville, before carrying on their road trip to Shawinigan and Victoriaville over the weekend.
Games this week: @ Drummondville (Oct. 25), @ Shawinigan (Oct. 26), @ Victoriaville (Oct. 27)
- Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): Riding the longest winning streak in the CHL thus far with seven straight victories, the Rimouski Océanic (8-3-0-0) continue their climb up the CHL Top-10 Rankings. This week, the 2025 Memorial Cup hosts find themselves in second place, their highest ranking of the season. The Océanic were the only team in the CHL Top-10 to go a perfect 3-0 last week. They accomplished the latter by first earning an impressive win against the No.5-ranked Voltigeurs (5-3) before defeating the Foreurs in a pair of contests (5-1 & 4-1) at the Océanic in Rimouski. The Océanic have now scored four goals or more in eight of their last nine contests, averaging 4.67 goals per game over that stretch. Helping them to score at the rate they are can in part be attributed to the play of Vegas Golden Knights prospect Mathieu Cataford (7G-14A in 9 GP). Cataford collected three goals and three assists in Rimouski’s three victories last week. The 2023-24 QMJHL MVP now has recorded multi-point games in eight of nine appearances this season, and his 2.33 points per game average is the highest of any skater in the QMJHL (good for third in the CHL behind Windsor’s Liam Greentree and Kelowna’s Andrew Cristall). This week, after coming back home for the first time this season, the Océanic are set to hit the road again, this time to Rouyn-Noranda and Val-d’Or.
Games this week: @ Rouyn-Noranda (Oct. 24), @ Rouyn-Noranda (Oct. 25), @ Val-d’Or (Oct. 26)
- Brampton Steelheads (OHL): With a shootout win over the 67’s (3-2) and one overtime loss to the defending Memorial Cup champion Saginaw Spirit (3-2), the Brampton Steelheads (5-3-1-0) slipped a spot to find themselves at No.3 this week. In the absence of 2025 NHL Draft prospect and stellar netminder Jack Ivankovic (4-0-0-0 record, 1.71 GAA, .936 SV%, 1 SO in 5 GP), who was serving a four-game suspension, the Steelheads struggled – losing three of their last four games. The club should get a boost when Ivankovic, who continues to lead the OHL with a 1.71 GAA and .936 SV%, returns to his crease this week. Meanwhile, the Steelheads’ other top 2025 NHL Draft prospect, Porter Martone (10G-10A in 9 GP), continued to showcase why he is in consideration for the number one overall pick. Martone registered a pair of points in both of Brampton’s games last week, as he now has 10 goals and 20 points this season, both of which rank among the top five in the OHL this season. Martone has only failed to score in one game so far in 2024-25 (against the Barrie Colts, who he’ll see on Friday night), and he’s up to seven games with two-plus points this season thanks to his pair of multi-point outings last week. This week, the Steelheads will need to be at their best when they welcome a surging Barrie Colts squad to the CAA Centre on Friday, before they hit the road to face the Storm on Sunday.
- Prince George Cougars (WHL): After notching an impressive 8-1 victory over the No. 7-ranked Medicine Hat Tigers, the Prince George Cougars (6-4-2-1) fell to the Lethbridge Hurricanes 7-3 last Friday, hence their slip to No. 4 this week. With a total of 49 goals scored this season, the Cougars rank tied for first in the WHL in that category, while their 15 points through 13 games have them ranked fourth in the WHL’s overall standings. In their big 8-1 victory over the Tigers, it was the usual cast of characters doing their things for Prince George. Minnesota Wild prospect Riley Heidt (5G-8A in 9 GP) scored short-handed and tallied an assist as he was named the game’s first star. 2025 NHL Draft prospect Joshua Ravensbergen (6-1-2-1 record, 3.14 GAA, .898 SV% in 10 GP) turned aside 33-of-34 shots to secure his WHL-leading sixth win of the season. Meanwhile, Washington Capital prospect Terik Parascak (5G-7A in 9 GP) led all scorers with four points, including his first power-play goal of the 2024-25 campaign. This week, the Cougars will hope that they can depend on that trio again as they aim to string a pair of victories for the first time since the beginning of the month.
- Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL): Despite a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the No.2-ranked Océanic on Wednesday night, the Drummondville Voltigeurs (9-2-0-1) won their other two games last week by a scoring line of 10-3 to jump up to No. 5. The Voltigeurs are one of only two teams in the CHL to have nine wins to their name. They also have the best point percentage (.792) of any club in the QMJHL, and they continue to allow the fewest goals of anyone in the CHL thanks to their 2.08 goals allowed per game average this season. Part of the latter can be attributed to the strong play of goaltender Riley Mercer (7-1-0-0 record, 1.50 GAA, .954 SV% & 1 SO in 8 GP), who continues to showcase the form that helped the Voltigeurs win a QMJHL title last season. Although he gave up four goals on 31 shots to Rimouski, Mercer bounced on Sunday by turning aside 38-of-39 shots to help the Voltigeurs edge the Cataractes 2-1. The 20-year-old netminder has four 30-plus save performances in five starts this month. Additionally, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Ethan Gauthier (5G-5A in 6 GP) potted three goals and added an assist, as he’s up to 10 points on the year. Captain Luke Woodworth (0G-18A in 10 GP) collected six helpers during Drummondville’s three games last week, as he now leads the CHL with 18 assists during the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, 20-year-old forward Sam Oliver (11G-2A in 12 GP) registered a pair of two-goal performances, and he now stands one goal shy of the QMJHL lead with 11 goals this season. This week, the Voltigeurs welcome the No.1-ranked Wildcats on Friday, before playing games against the Sea Dogs and Armada to close out the weekend.
Games this week: vs. Moncton (Oct. 25), vs. Saint John (Oct. 26), @ Blainville-Boisbriand (Oct. 27)
- Windsor Spitfires (OHL): As the only eight-win club in the OHL, holding the best winning percentage of any team in the CHL at .850, the Windsor Spitfires (8-1-1-0) continue their ascend the CHL Top-10 Rankings after another perfect week. The Spitfires are one of only two teams in the CHL, alongside the No.1-ranked Moncton Wildcats to have topped the 50-goal plateau so far during the 2024-25 campaign. They continue to hold the best scoring average of any club in the CHL at 5.4 goals per game, and they now tallied four goals or more in nine of 10 contests this season. A large part of their success can be attributed to the strong play of both Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree (6G-17A in 9 GP) and 19-year-old netminder Joey Costanzo (8-0-0-0 record, 2.00 GAA, .932 SV%, 1 SO in 8 GP), who were both recognized on Monday by the OHL as the Cogeco Player of the Week and Goaltender of the Week respectively. Greentree has been a force this season, highlighted by the 11 points (4G-7A) he’s collected over his last three games. Greentree leads the CHL and OHL with 23 points, and through what is a nine-game point streak to start the year, he’s got five games with three points or more. Meanwhile, Costanzo is the only goalie in the CHL to be a perfect 8-0-0-0 this season, and his eight wins rank tied for first across the CHL. His 2.00 GAA and .932 SV% continue to rank second in the OHL, trailing only Brampton’s Jack Ivankovic. This week, the Spitfires will kick start a three-game homestand with contests against the Attack and No.9-ranked IceDogs.
- Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL): Having split their games over the last week, the Medicine Hat Tigers (5-5-0-0) are down a few places to seventh in this week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings. Specifically, the Tigers got the week started on the wrong foot as they allowed themselves to be defeated by the No. 4-ranked Cougars 8-1 despite outshooting their opponent 34-31. Two nights later, Medicine Hat was sure to right the ship by doubling up the Warriors 6-3 in Moose Jaw. The Tigers held the Warriors to 13 shots during that contest, including only a pair of shots in the third period. During the latter, 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna (3G-12A in 10 GP) potted his third goal of the season as he is now up to 15 points through 10 games. McKenna’s two-point outing against Moose Jaw was also his fifth multi-point game of this young season. Florida Panthers prospect Hunter Martin (6G-0A in 7 GP) tallied his team-leading sixth goal of the campaign in that contest in Moose Jaw, while Calgary Flames prospect Andrew Basha (3G-8A in 9 GP) recorded a a goal and assist in the victory. Basha has only been held pointless twice this season and he’s registered six points over his last three games. This week, the Tigers will aim to build off their victory against the reigning WHL champions when they face the Hitmen, Rebels, and Pats over the next seven days.
- London Knights (OHL): Another up-and-down week for the London Knights (5-4-0-0), highlighted by a loss to the Saginaw Spirit (5-1) and a victory against the Erie Otters (3-1), has the defending OHL champions slipping a couple of places to No. 8 this week. Hosting the 2024 Memorial Cup champion Saginaw Spirit in London, in what was a rematch of the final, didn’t go as expected for the Knights, who were outshot 37-18 in a 5-1 loss to the Spirit at home. Forced to recover a couple of days later from that game, London leaned on the excellent play of newly acquired netminder Austin Elliott to score a 3-1 win over Erie. The 20-year-old Elliott, who was off to a 3-0-0-0 start with Saskatoon in 2024-25 where he has also played the last three seasons, made 30 saves in his impressive debut for London on Sunday. Among some of the other bright spots for the Knights, with points in both of London’s games last week, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan (3G-3A in 5 GP) has registered at least a point in 41 consecutive regular-season OHL games dating back to last season. This week, Cowan will look to extend that streak as the Knights welcome a surging Brantford Bulldogs team to London on Friday night, before they travel to Saginaw and Sarnia for a pair of road games.
- Niagara IceDogs (OHL): Although they scored a pair of overtime victories against the 67’s (5-4) and Frontenacs (4-3) last week, a road loss to the Kitchener Rangers (4-2) along with the play of some of their counterparts has the Niagara IceDogs (7-2-0-0) down a spot at No. 9 in this week’s rankings. The IceDgos continued over the last week to enjoy some great production from Winnipeg Jets prospect Kevin He (9G-9A in 9 GP), who registered two goals and an assist on the game-winner in Niagara’s OT victory against Ottawa. He continues to rank among the OHL’s top five leading scorers thanks to his 18 points through nine games this season. He is also one of only four OHL skaters to be averaging two points per game during the 2024-25 campaign. Meanwhile, in the IceDogs’ other victory of the week, 2026 NHL Draft prospect Ryan Roobroeck (7G-4A in 9 GP) was instrumental as he scored the game’s final two goals including the OT winner against Kingston on Sunday. Roobroeck is up to seven goals and 11 points on the year, which ranks third on the IceDogs behind only He and Seattle Kraken prospect Andrei Loshko (5G-8A in 9 GP). Rooebroeck also has points in seven of his last eight games, including three contests with a pair of goals. This week, Niagara will have its hands full as it welcomes a strong Oshawa Generals club to the Meridian Centre on Thursday, before traveling to Sarnia and Windsor for a pair of games to close out the weekend.
- Everett Silvertips (WHL): Winning their lone contest of the week, a 3-0 victory over the Winterhawks, the Everett Silvertips (8-2-0-0) remain idle in tenth in this week’s rankings. With a WHL-best .800 point percentage and one point shy of first place in the WHL, the Silvertips are allowing only 2.4 goals per game, which ranks second in the CHL (behind only Drummondville’s 2.08). In their 3-0 victory over Winterhawks in Portland, Jesse Sanche (5-2-0-0 record, 1.93 GAA, .929 SV%, 1 SO in 7 GP) picked up his first career WHL shutout by stopping all 26 shots faced. Sanche’s 1.93 goals-against average and .929 save percentage both rank among the top three in the WHL this season. Meanwhile, during that 3-0 victory, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear (7G-8A in 10 GP) continued his strong start, as he registered an assist. Bear has points in all but two games this season. Speaking of hot starts, 15-year-old defenceman Landon DuPont (4G-9A in 10 GP) also earned a helper in that game against Portland. The ninth exceptional status player in CHL history now has points in nine of 10 games this season. His 13 points place him among the rookie scoring leaders in the WHL and two points shy of first-year players in the CHL. The 13 points are also tied for the most of any CHL rookie defenceman alongside Vancouver’s Ryan Lin. This week, Everett will look to maintain its place near the top of the WHL standings as they play through a three-game homestand with contests against the Wild and Oil Kings over the next seven days.
