Nine QMJHLers at Canada’s 2023 National Junior Team Selection Camp
Hockey Canada has announced that 29 players have been invited to attend Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp, held December 9-12 at Moncton’s Avenir Centre.
Four goaltenders, nine defensemen and 16 forwards will take part in the four-day camp in the hopes of representing Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Of the 29 players invited, a total of nine are currently suiting up in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season; one goaltender, two defensemen and six forwards. Here are the QMJHL representatives who are looking to make this year’s Canadian National Junior Team:
G | ROUSSEAU, William / Quebec Remparts / 2023 NHL Draft
D | HINDS, Tyson / Sherbrooke Phœnix / Anaheim 2021 (3/76)
D | NAUSE, Evan / Quebec Remparts / Florida 2021 (2/56)
F | BOLDUC, Zachary / Quebec Remparts / St.Louis 2021 (1/17)
F | DEAN, Zachary / Gatineau Olympiques / Vegas 2021 (1/30)

F | KIDNEY, Riley / Acadie-Bathurst Titan / Montreal 2021 (2/63)
F | ROY, Joshua / Sherbrooke Phœnix / Montreal 2021 (5/150)
Of the QMJHL reps, only forwards Nathan Gaucher, Riley Kidney and Joshua Roy will be looking to return to the World Juniors’ stage after helping Canada to a gold medal at the 2022 tournament held last summer.
They will be led by a familiar face behind the bench as Sherbrooke Phœnix head coach and general manager Stéphane Julien has already been named as one of the assistant coaches for Canada’s National Junior Team.
