The QMJHL announces Officiating Team for 2018 Rogers President Cup Final
Boucherville, QC – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced the officials which will take part in the 2018 Rogers President Cup Final.
It is a group of experienced officials that is credited with a combined total of 164 years of experience. Here is an overview of their careers:
REFEREES
ALARIE Jonathan # 8
Jonathan Alarie has just come back from the Under-18 World Championship which was held in Russia where he worked the bronze medal game. He completed his 6th season in the League and counts 215 games of regular season experience to go along with 40 playoff appearances. It is his fourth consecutive President Cup final appearance. He also worked the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Quebec City.
BÉDARD Dominick # 10
Dominick Bédard is a thirteen-season veteran with more than 700 regular season games and 150 playoff games under his belt. It is his 9th President Cup final appearance. He worked the final of the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Mississauga.
GOUIN Olivier # 7
Although he was retained to work the Rogers President Cup final, Olivier will not be able to take part in it due to his participation in the 2018 IIHF World Hockey Championship currently being played in Copenhagen.
LABONTÉ Guillaume # 17
Guillaume Labonté is completing his third season as a referee following a five-year stint as a linesman. An AHL referee the past two seasons, he worked more than 123 regular season games as well as more than 16 playoff games. He is participating in his second President Cup final. Moreover, he was on hand for the 2017 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Windsor.
LANGILLE Jonathan # 12
Jonathan Langille is a seasoned veteran with 12 seasons of QMJHL experience. He has worked more than 410 regular season games along with 90 playoff contests. This is his sixth President Cup final berth. He worked the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Shawinigan.
MAILLET Mario # 21
Mario Maillet has worked over 450 regular season games and 95 playoff games during this 15 junior hockey seasons. This will be his 8th President Cup appearance. He worked the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup in London.
MILLS Brad # 21
Brad Mills boasts 16 seasons of junior hockey experience. He has worked more than 440 games in the regular season and 80 playoff games. This is his 5th participation in the President Cup final.
LINESMEN
BURCHELL Justin # 49
Justin Burchell has worked over 280 regular season games and 40 playoff games. He has just completed his 13th junior hockey season. This is his 3rd President Cup final.
CHAPUT Maxime # 88
Chaput is just back from the Under-18 World Championships in Russia where he was called upon to work the gold medal game. He is a veteran of the AHL and is just wrapping up his 9th QMJHL season. Maxime has 220 regular season games under his belt as well as 45 playoff games. This is his third President Cup final.
DEYOUNG Josh # 52
Josh Deyoung counts over 240 and 30 regular season and playoff games respectively of experience. He has just completed his 10th season in the QMJHL. This is his first ever appearance in the President Cup final.
DOIRON Jay # 55
Jay Doiron has worked over 340 regular season games as well as 105 playoff games over 19 QMJHL seasons. This is his 7th President Cup final appearance. He worked the 2012 and 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup tournaments which were held in Shawinigan and Quebec City.
HICKS Matt # 58
Matt Hicks is in his 7th QMJHL season and has worked over 170 regular season games along with 30 playoff contests. This is his second President Cup final appearance.
LOSIER Sylvain # 71
Sylvain Losier is the group’s most seasoned veteran. He counts 25 years of QMJHL experience. He has worked over 770 regular season games along with 110 playoff contests. This is his 15th President Cup final appearance. Morevoer, he has participated in 4 MasterCard Memorial Cup Championships. He worked the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver and several IIHF World Championships.
MARTINEAU Benoit # 84
Benoit Martineau has worked more than 285 regular season games as well as 70 playoff games. He has 9 years of QMJHL experience. This is his 6th President Cup final appearance. He worked the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Quebec City.
PICHÉ Nicolas # 75
Nicolas Piché just completed his 6th QMJHL season. He has worked more than 185 regular season games and over 50 playoff contests. This is his 4th President Cup final appearance. He worked the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Quebec City.
