Wildcats winning ways continue
The Moncton Wildcats went wild in the third period scoring 3 goals to down the Shawinigan Cataractes 4-2 on Friday night and up their unbeaten streak to seven games.

A five minute major penalty to Andrew Roski at 5:56 of the opening period set the stage for a pair of power-play goals by Shawinigan. Philippe Paradis scored at 8:19, Houde-Caron and Petersen assisted. Then at 10:54 Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll scored from Lemieux and Vandall for a 2-0 Cataract margin.

Mark Barberio scored on a Wildcat power-play at 9:19 of the second from Pierre-Marc Lessard and Randy Cameron to make it 2-1 after 40 minutes.

Cameron evened the game for Moncton at 4:50 of the third with Lessard and Matt Eagles picking up the helpers, the second power-play goal of the game for the Cats.

Scott Brannon took a pass from Barberio at 6:46 and fired a rocket past Shawinigan goalie Timo Pielmeier to give Moncton a 3-2 lead. New comer Matt Lahey combined with Eagles and Simon Jodoin at 11:22 for the insurance goal the Wildcats needed.

Moncton outshot the visitors 34-22 and with the man advantage went 2 for 9 while Shawinigan was 2 for 6.

Pielmeier was named the games third star, Lessard of the Wildcats picked up second star honors while Mark Barberio with a goal and an assist got the nod as the game’s first star.

The Wildcats continue their four game home stand on Sunday at 4 when they meet the Saint John Sea Dogs.
