Jakob Pelletier voted as finalist for the Frank J.-Selke Trophy
After announcing the Michael-Bossy Trophy nominees yesterday, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced today the three finalists for the Frank J.-Selke award which acknowledges the league’s most sportsmanlike player.
To be considered in this category, a player must prove his efficiency on the ice while showing the utmost respect for opponents and officials. This year’s nominees are Saguenéens forward Raphaël Harvey-Pinard, Wildcats captain Jakob Pelletier and Océanic import player Dmitry Zavgorodniy.
Rafaël Harvey-Pinard played his final junior season in his hometown of Chicoutimi. Traded to the Saguenéens at the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft, the Jonquière native was immediately named captain by club General Manager Yanick Jean. The Montreal Canadiens prospect demonstrated exceptional leadership and respect on and off the ice all season long. In 2019–2020, he registered 78 points (34G-44A) in 62 games while spending only 16 minutes in the penalty box.
Jakob Pelletier is another great team captain. The Calgary Flames draft pick leads by example and was an important piece of the Wildcats’ successes this season. In 57 regular-season games, he scored 32 goals, added 50 assists and was sent to the penalty box for only eight minor penalties.
Dmitry Zavgorodniy is described as a quiet leader in the Rimouski Océanic locker room. With his constant smile, the Russian forward is known for his commitment and his exemplary work ethic. One of the least penalized players this season with six minutes in the box, the seventh-round selection of the Calgary Flames in 2018 piled up 29 goals and 38 assists in 40 games.
