Cats dump Isles for 2nd weekend road win
The Wildcats exploded for three late second period goals in an 88-second span en route to a 6-3 triumph over the Charlottetown Islanders on Sunday at Eastlink Centre.
Veteran Yoan Loshing scored three goals, including an empty-netter, leading the Cats to their 2nd win on opening weekend in the QMJHL. Moncton shutout Saint John 3-0 Friday night at TD Station.
Alex Mercier celebrated his 19th birthday with his 2nd goal of the season, others to Markus Vidicek shorthanded, and Caleb Desnoyers added his first of the young season.
Centreman Julius Sumpf was also a major contributor with three assists, giving 4 on the year. Jacob Steinman took the “W” with 25 saves.
The 2-0 Cats now prepare for the big Home Opener Saturday night against the Titan at 7pm at Avenir Centre followed by the Mooseheads Sunday at 3pm.
