Cataractes shut down Wildcats at Avenir Centre
It was a low-scoring affair at the Avenir Centre Sunday afternoon as the Wildcats were stopped 2-1 by the Shawinigan Cataractes before 4,000 fans.
Wildcat Vincent Collard continued his hot scoring streak with his 4th goal in the past 2 games. The Chicoutimi native has 12 on the season.
The Cataractes led 2-1 after two periods and then survived a 6-on-4 Cats powerplay in the dying seconds to preserve the road victory. Both goaltenders were outstanding — Shawinigan’s Remi Delafontaine made 38 saves and Moncton’s Jacob Steinman stopped 34 shots. Captain Yoan Loshing returned to action after an injury and Shawn Carrier also suited up after competing for Canada Red at the World U17 Challenge. Top rookie Caleb Desnoyers will return to action this week. Desnoyers played on the World U17 championship Canada White team, winning gold.
