The Titan remain among the top 10 teams in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. As of Monday morning, Acadie-Bathurst was ranked seventh in league standings, and second overall in the Maritimes Division.
Moncton is top of the league with 32 points, followed by Drummondville in second (30) and Chicoutimi (28) in third. Rouyn-Noranda and Baie-Comeau (27) are in fourth and fifth respectively, followed by Rimouski (25) in sixth place. The Titan have 24 points in seventh place, followed by Sherbrooke (23), Shawinigan (22) and Saint John (20).
In the Maritimes Division, Moncton is in first, followed by Bathurst, Saint John, Cape Breton and Halifax is fourth and fifth (18) and Charlottetown (14) in sixth place.
Smith, Proulx win Team Canada gold at World U17 Hockey Challenge
Matthew Smith, Titan Director of Hockey Operations and Video Coach, and Titan Prospect, Antoine Proulx won gold with Team Canada at the World U17 Hockey Challenge.
Smith was at the international tournament in Sarnia, Ont., as a Video Coach for Team Canada, and Proulx suited-up between the pipes with Team Canada White.
Canada White won the World U17 Hockey Challenge on Saturday after beating Canada Red 3-1 in the championship final.
Proulx, 16, competes for Lévis Chevaliers in the QM18AAA. The Titan drafted him 23rd overall in the second round of the 2024 QMJHL Entry Draft.
Titan split weekend games
Bathurst finished the weekend with a 1-1 record. Friday evening the Titan fell 5-1 to the Moncton Wildcats, before bouncing back to defeat the Halifax Mooseheads 3-0 on Sunday.
Dawson Sharkey had the lone goal for Bathurst Friday night at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. He scored in the second period and was named the second Star of the Game.
Sunday at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Josh Fleming had a shutout against the Mooseheads, stopping all 28 shots from the home side. Colby Huggan and Alexandre Lallier scored in the first period for the Titan and Louis-François Bélanger netted the third goal in the final frame.
Fleming was named the first Star of the Night and Huggan was the second.
Five Titan among league leaders
Fleming, Huggan, Harry Clements, Alexandre Lallier and Mathieu St-Onge are among the QMJHL league leaders.
Fleming is third in goals against average (2.37), save percentage (0.925) and wins (11) and fourth in shutouts (four).
St-Onge is first in short handed goals (two), Huggan in second in game winning goals (four), Clements is first in penalty minutes (30) and Lallier is third in penalty minutes (29).
Poppy Campaign
Acadie-Bathurst Titan players showed their support for the Royal Canadian Legion. In the community (Canadian Tire, L’ Independent de Petit-Rocher and Épicerie Frenette) Thursday evening, Fleming, Blake Pilgrim-Edwards, Emile Perron, Bélanger, Tyson Goguen and Jayden Lazare helped with the Herman James Good V.C. Branch No. 18 annual poppy campaign.
