Titan begin with a win on & off the ice
Bathurst, NB, Wednesday, August 24th, 2016 – For the first time since last March, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan took to the ice in front of their fans, as they played host to the Saint John Sea Dogs in the year’s first home exhibition game. The Titan took control of the game early and maintained their lead throughout the game, skating away with a six to two victory.
Everyone knew before the start of training camp that the competition for spots would be merciless on such a deep Titan roster, and their players certainly showed they wanted to waste no time in making their mark. Indeed, William Lemay-Champagne posted a sensational three assist performance, one more than fellow rookie Aaron Brisebois. It is also worth underlining the work of the team’s young veterans, most notably that of Samuel L’Italien whom scored two goals and added one assist. Christophe Boivin, Kynan Berger, Dawson Theede and Olivier Desjardins were the other Titan goal scorers, while Olivier Mathieu and John Warren replied for the Sea Dogs.
In goal, Matthew Williams and Alex D’Orio split duties for the visiting team, respectively turning away 14 and 17 shots. Meanwhile, at the other end of the ice, Reilly Pickard was stellar in a 23 save performance. As a side note, Pickard was forced to leave the game for two minutes in the second frame due to equipment repairs. His auxiliary, Daniil Timchenko, seized his chance to turn back both shots he faced.
A new, scintillating combination
Starting the game as the Titan’s third line, Dawson Theede, Samuel L’Italien and William Lemay-Champagne wasted little time spotting each other on the ice, the three uniting for a grand total of three goals, six assists and a + 11 differential. It will be very interesting to see what these three have in store for us moving forward.
Brisebois continues to surprise
A 12th round selection in the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft, Aaron Brisebois continued his impressive work on this night. The top scorer for his squad at the Hub City Shwocase just this past weekend, Brisebois added two assists on this night to his pre-season resume. None can now deny that he has put himself on the map and will be a player to keep an eye in the coming days, or even months.
A warm welcome for the generosity
Admission to this game was free to all fans, following a partnership with the Club Richelieu. This initiative allowed the Club to raise the grand total of $2,264. The Titan and the Club wish to thank all fans for their generosity.
